A Divine Object Lesson

I want to share with you the NLT Bible notes from 1 Chronicles 13:8-14:

“When God gives us specific instructions it is wise to follow them precisely. “ In the account of Uzzah’s death because of touching the ark to try to prevent it from falling, it seems harsh that God killed him when Uzzah only reacted to try to do a good thing. “We may not fully understand the severity of God’s judgments, but we do know his wisdom is complete and his judgments infallible. The way to follow God’s instructions begins with knowing God’s Word. But just as children do not understand the reasons for all of their parents instructions until they are older, we may not understand all of God’s instructions in this life. It is better to obey God first and discover the reasons later. We are never free to disobey God just because we don’t fully understand. If David had been allowed to move the ark carelessly, what would that have said to the people about respect for God?”

Obedience is a true sign of your love for God. The only way we can know what we are to obey is by knowing God’s Word. David ‘s attempt to bring the ark back was a good thing but whether he just did his own thing without consulting the Lord out of haste or ignorance the instructions were there available to Him, so he was without excuse for what happened. Our mistakes or sins many times effects others. I am reminded here myself how much!
