I Just Can’t Help It

People who are unhappy inside and led by emotions tend to blame others. Then they say, “I just can’t help it.”  You can get control of yourself! It’s amazing when someone comes around, you want to impress how quickly you can get control of yourself. We need to take responsibility for ourselves. I just can’t help it is a false statement. God has given us a spirit of self-control, but we must develop it. We cannot gain spiritual maturity if we don’t learn how to live deeper in God.  The things you want in life you may not get, so will you still love and serve God?  Ask yourself, “Am I serving God for what I can get from Him?” When we cater to our flesh, seemingly have a great time, and don’t take responsibility for our actions or take God seriously, we may have fun or think we are getting away with something, but there is always a bill that comes due eventually.  We may feel overwhelmed by the messes we got ourselves into and the costs now that are due. It didn’t take overnight to accumulate that overwhelming bill, and it probably won’t go away overnight.  However, the more we choose the right thing, the more we get out of the messes we are in. You can help it!

Prayer:  God, thank you for showing me the right way to live. Please help me avoid distractions and resist being tempted to not take responsibility for my actions. Help me stay focused on you rather than my current situation. Help me not to shift my mood based on the insignificant actions of someone else.
